Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- The Academy of Sports Science of the DPRK marked its 30th founding anniversary.

The 30-year-long history of the academy is the glorious one associated with the great devotion, efforts, loving care and trust of the peerlessly great men who devoted themselves to the development of sports of the country.

With a deep insight into the importance of sports science, Chairman Kim Jong Il founded the Academy of Sports Science on June 1, 1995 and indicated the tasks and ways for developing sports science.

On March 25, 2015, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent a historic letter "Let Us Usher in a New Golden Age in Building a Sports Power in the Revolutionary Spirit of Paektu" to the participants in the 7th National Conference of Sportspeople and wisely led the research into the country's sports with his energetic leadership.

The academy has fulfilled its mission as a research institution steering the development of sports of the country for the past 30 years, true to the idea of the Workers' Party of Korea attaching importance to sports.

A meeting took place on May 31 to mark the founding anniversary of the academy.

Present there were officials of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports and officials and employees of the academy. -0-
