Scientific Research Activities Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- True to the decisions of the 6th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, universities across the DPRK set bold research goals for pushing ahead with the development of the self-supporting economy by dint of science and technology and have conducted scientific research activities on spots.

Kim Il Sung University and other major universities sent research teams to major fronts of the national economy to solve sci-tech problems which are in great need in practice.

Research teams of Kim Chaek University of Technology take the lead in settling the problems arising in modernization of production process and in production at metallurgical, chemical and machine-building industrial bases.

Those of Pyongyang University of Architecture conduct scientific research activities at different units of the electric-power and chemical industrial sectors and those of Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering put spurs to the research for the second-stage project of modernization of the Kumsong Tractor Factory and the modernization of the Pyongyang Dental Hygiene Products Factory.

Similar successes have been made by those of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering, Hamhung University of Hydraulic Engineering, Chongjin University of Mining and Metallurgy and Sunchon Ri Su Bok University of Chemical Engineering. -0-
