New Year 2026 Significantly Greeted in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 2 (KCNA) -- All the people across the DPRK significantly greeted the hopeful New Year 2026.

On the morning of New Year's Day, an endless stream of the people yearning for President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il flowed to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, where the President and the Chairman lie in state.

The visitors paid tribute with humble reverence to the peerlessly great men at the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun.

Officials, working people, service personnel, school youth and children visited the statues of the great leaders and mosaics depicting the peerlessly great men on Mansu Hill and in other parts of the country to lay flower baskets, bouquets and flowers before them and make bows.

The children and pupils of primary schools across the country received gifts associated with the loving care of the motherly Workers' Party of Korea on the occasion of the New Year.

A circus was given by acrobats of the National Acrobatic Troupe at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre and one-act play at the National Theatre, adding to the joy of citizens.

Schoolchildren in Pyongyang also gave a performance for greeting the New Year, singing of the joy of greeting the New Year in which they will be happier under the care of the great father.

Art performances were given in South Phyongan, North Hwanghae, North Hamgyong and Ryanggang provinces, Nampho Municipality and other parts of the country and sports and amusement games were played by officials, working people and youth and students in the South Hamgyong Provincial Sports Village and Hamhung Stadium.

Performances for greeting the New Year were given by children in North Phyongan, South Hwanghae and Kangwon provinces, Kaesong Municipality and other areas.

The laughter of the working people, youth and students and children was heard at recreation grounds for the people including the Central Zoo, the Natural History Museum and the Munsu Water Park.

The public catering establishments in Pyongyang and local areas were crowded with visitors.

Different places of the capital city were decorated with gorgeous lights.

The happy looks of the people skating and sledding at the open-air ice rink in the central part of the capital which was decorated with amazing lights added to the joy on the night of the holiday. -0-
