Catalyst Production Base Built in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- A new catalyst production base has been built at the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex in the DPRK.

The catalyst production base is another valuable asset and creation of self-reliance which is of great significance in laying the foundation for the long-term development of the chemical industry by producing the necessary catalysts with our own efforts and technology.

An inauguration ceremony took place on the spot on Jan. 20.

Present there were Ri Kyong Chol, chief secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Song Bom, chairman of the provincial people's committee, officials concerned and officials and employees of the complex.

Minister of Chemical Industry Kim Son Myong addressed the ceremony.

The speaker called upon the employees of the complex to amplify the might of science and technology on the basis of the successes made in establishing a new catalyst production process and thus increase fertilizer production.

At the end of the ceremony, the participants looked round the catalyst production base. -0-
