Measures to Minimize Damage by Disastrous Abnormal Weather Taken in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 16 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the power transmission and transformation sector of the DPRK are directing efforts to improving the stability of the electric power system.

Thanks to the devoted efforts of the officials of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry and the workers in the sector of power transmission and transformation, more than 200 lightening rods for power failure dispersion and dozens of zinc oxide lightening arresters have been installed and supporting structures improved this year.

The South Hwanghae Provincial and South Phyongan Provincial power transmission and distribution stations are reinforcing the high-efficiency lightening arresters and lightening rods in major transmission lines and taking technical measures for their management.

The Jagang Provincial Power Transmission and Distribution Station is finding out the dangerous elements and taking timely measures including the replacement of light poles and the repair of ground conductors.

The Pyongyang Municipal Power Transmission and Distribution Station is striving to ensure the supply of electricity even during the rainy season while lowering the ground resistance of transmission steel towers and replacing the defective insulators.

The South Hamgyong Provincial Power Transmission and Distribution Station is taking foreseeable measures to actively respond to the unexpected situation while improving the system protection capacity of the sections in its charge.

The officials and workers in the sector of power transmission and transformation are intensifying the work to prevent disasters while protecting and managing electric facilities to meet the technical requirements. -0-
