Korean Dressing Custom Registered as World Intangible Cultural Heritage

Pyongyang, December 10 (KCNA) -- A decision on registering the "Korean Dressing Custom", an excellent cultural heritage of the Korean nation, as a typical intangible cultural heritage of mankind was unanimously adopted at the 19th meeting of the intergovernmental committee for the protection of intangible cultural heritages of the UNESCO held in Paraguay some days ago.

The "Korean Dressing Custom" reflecting the emotions, feelings and life of the Korean people occupies a prominent place among the excellent cultural heritages created by their ancestors and the Korean dress is well known to the world for its unique form and peculiar beauty.

As a result, five objects--folk song "Arirang", custom of making kimchi, Korean wrestling, Pyongyang Raengmyon (cold noodle) Custom and "Korean Dressing Custom" have been registered as typical intangible cultural heritages of mankind. -0-
