New National and Local Intangible Cultural Heritages Registered in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Eighteen objects showing the time-honored history, brilliant culture and life customs of the Korean nation have been registered as new national and local intangible cultural heritages in the DPRK.

Officials of the Bureau for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with various units, had striven to find out intangible cultural heritages. In the course, they registered 14 objects such as Yangdok hot spring culture, the method of making Koryo medicine and horse-riding as national intangible cultural heritages.

The technique of making Kyongsong ceramics, mud-snail industrial arts, folk song "Hoeyang Nilliri" and rice boiled with oysters were registered as local intangible cultural heritages. -0-
