Research Successes at Electric Power Information Institute

Pyongyang, December 16 (KCNA) -- Officials and researchers at the Electric Power Information Institute under the DPRK Ministry of Electric Power Industry have made achievements in the creative struggle to attain the goal of scientific research conducive to the development of the electric-power industry.

The institute established an integrated reservoir water control system for hydroelectric power stations in connection with a relevant unit, thereby storing hundreds of millions of cubic meters of more water during the rainy season this year.

A system for monitoring and analyzing the state of transformers in real time was developed and introduced, making it possible to ensure the smooth operation of equipment and improve the electricity supply.

It also built a system for further increasing the reliability of the operation of digital power-line protection devices and scientifically analyzing and judging system errors. And it solved the scientific and technological problems arising in raising the voltage steps and making the electric transmission system practical to greatly reduce the loss of power in transmission.

It upgraded the integrated power control system of hydroelectric power stations, while mathematically modeling the efficiency characteristics of generators and taking technical measures for the high-water-level and high-efficiency operation. And the system has been applied to the power stations.

The institute carried out the research projects for this year, including the real-time monitoring system and supervision system for electricity consumption and for eliminating the waste of electricity. -0-
