Symposium on History and Culture of Koguryo Kingdom Held in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- A symposium on the history and culture of Koguryo Kingdom took place at the Academy of Social Sciences on Nov. 27.

Present there were officials concerned and researchers, teachers, writers, journalists and editors in the fields of science, education, literature and arts, media and national heritage conservation.

Speakers referred to the fact that researches into the history and culture of Koguryo Kingdom, the first feudal state in Korea, were conducted, true to the intention of the Party.

Thanks to the outstanding leadership of the peerlessly great men, the founding year of Koguryo was scientifically clarified, the distorted issues, including its historic position, were corrected, many historical relics of Koguryo were unearthed and restored and the Mausoleum of King Tongmyong was successfully remodeled, they noted, adding that so the excellent history and culture of the nation could be remembered for ages to come.

They said that the newly-surveyed Tudaedong Walls in North Hwanghae Province was built in the wall-building method peculiar to Koguryo and that the walls were proved to date back to the period of Koguryo through the study of the wall stones, tiles and other relics

The speakers expressed their determination to further intensify the scientific research on the history and culture of Koguryo Kingdom in order to contribute to glorifying the good qualities of the nation. -0-
