Pyongyang University of Architecture has put the design of afforestation on a higher scientific basis and helped create landscapes with formative art in different parts of the country, including the Central Botanical Garden.

It also invented a new labor-saving protection dam design with high ecological and landscape effect and convenience in construction.

Researchers of the Institute of Land Planning under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection established an innovative methodology for mapping out urban arrangement plan, contributing to the rational use of land resources and the optimization realization of industrial structure.

The Hydraulic Engineering Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences succeeded in researching into an evaluation method to guarantee the safety of embankments and bank protection structures, thus making it possible to minimize the flood damage.
