Unsan, Thaechon, Chonma and Changsong counties of North Phyongan Province carried out the planned projects for improving 10-odd small and medium rivers and repairing embankments by rationalizing manpower allotment, increasing the operation rate of vehicles and taking measures for supplying materials.

Cholsan and Tongnim counties and Jongju City finished repairing tide-water control dykes and reinforcing embankments and repairing retaining walls ahead of schedule.

Ryonggang County in Nampho Municipality finished improving rivers and building retaining walls, which are important for protecting farmland from damage in the rainy season, and Onchon County carried out the project for putting 8 000 cubic meters of coastal embankments on a permanent basis.

Hochon and Kumya counties of South Hamgyong Province have completed the improvement of rivers including dredging riverbeds, reinforcing embankments and building retaining walls, paying attention to the recent climate change. -0-
