Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Various units in the metallurgical industry sector of the DPRK have carried out their first half-yearly national economic plans.
The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex launched a technological innovation campaign to shorten the steelmaking time, thus increasing the output of molten iron per charge, and produced larger quantities of rolled steel than the same period of last year by developing and applying rational methods of furnace operation.
The Chollima Steel Complex put on a normal basis the operation of the efficient and advanced labor- and energy-saving curved continuous caster capable of increasing the iron and steel production, thus producing and supplying iron and steel needed for various sectors of the national economy.
The workers of the Posan Iron Works, the Puryong Ferroalloy Factory and the Hungnam Electrode Factory fulfilled their first half-yearly national economic plans with the main emphasis on improving the quality of products.
The Musan Mining Complex produced more concentrated iron ore than planned, and the Unryul and Jaeryong mines brought about remarkable results in the production of iron ore by giving priority to the removal of overburden and increasing the operation rate of equipment. -0-
