Stone-Patterned Tile Production Increased in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- Amid the rural housing construction progressing apace across the country, many units of the DPRK have striven to lay their own foundations for building materials production.

The Kangdong County People's Committee in Pyongyang City is directing big efforts to the mass-production of stone-patterned tiles. The stone-patterned tile, which can be used as outer wall tile in rural housing construction, has strong resistance to freezing and does not need the baking process and emulsion.

In cooperation with researchers of the new technology research dissemination center under the county commission of science and technology, the committee pushed ahead with the work to make the outer wall tiles for housing construction with natural stones abundant in the region.

In the course, a rational method was found for cutting stones while keeping their natural patterns and for meeting the standard requirements.

The committee is now taking a practical step to mass-produce stone-patterned tiles. -0-
