Successes Made at Fishery Units in North Hamgyong Province of DPRK

Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- Fishery units in North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK conducted an intensive fishing campaign to increase fishing by 1.3 times as compared with the same period of last year.

The Sinam Fishery Station raised the fishery amount per netting by introducing rational fishing methods suited to seasonal conditions.

The Chongjin and Kim Chaek fishery stations have caught a lot of fish including migratory fish by increasing the operation rate of fishing boats.

The work of increasing aquaculture on a large scale and protecting and multiplying the aquatic resources has been progressed in a planned way.

Tens of more hectares of culture ground was created than last year, laying a foundation for raising the aquacultural production.

The Kanhae Office for Stocking the Sea with Fishes increased the per-hectare production of kelp by securing high-yielding seeds and rationally conducting the cultivating and spreading of seedlings.

The Sokho Offshore Farm has registered good results in seaweed production despite unfavorable weather conditions.

The Komalsan Offshore Atlantic Salmon Farm has built a good spawning ground and introduced efficient hatching methods to stock the sea with hundreds of thousands of young fish and fry, thus contributing to the propagating of marine resources.

Employees of the Jikha Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm and the Sapho Office for Stocking the Sea with Fishes are securing breed fish and effectively conducting the work while meeting the requirements of technical regulations including water temperature and oxygen supply. -0-
