Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- Factories and enterprises in the light industry sector of the DPRK are putting efforts into the environmental protection.

The Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Textile Mill installed more compressors and pumps at the wastewater purification process to increase the efficiency of wastewater purification, and built over 1 000 cubic meters of outdoor settling pond to boost the capacity of the collection of dust from the operated boiler.

The Sariwon Textile Mill repaired and maintained the sodium hypochlorite generator and repaired the boiler dust collector to further improve the production environment.

Technicians of the Pyongyang Tannery succeeded in the trial introduction of wastewater purification medicine and solved technical problems arising in the adjustment and reinforcement of wastewater purification equipment. And the Phyongsong Artificial Leather Factory is further increasing the efficiency of wastewater purification while pushing ahead with the dredging of the settling basin.

The Pyongyang Hosiery Factory, the Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory, the Pyongyang Essential Oil Factory and other factories are laying material and technical foundations for the protection of the environment in a scientific way. -0-
