Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- Officials and workers in the fishing sector of the DPRK are making successes in increasing seafood production.
Hundreds of fishing boats have been repaired and fishing gear overhauled throughout the Ministry of Fisheries and an aid system of detecting fishing grounds by satellite information was introduced into many fishing boats.
Progress has been made in remodeling multi-purpose fishing boats including building more than 10 fishing boats of over 80hp.
The Mundok Fishery Station, the Kamapho Fishery Station, the Sinpho Fishery Station, the Chongjin feed supply fishery station for the central zoo and other fishery units in the East and West seas introduced advanced fishing methods and caught a lot of fish.
Officials and employees of the Pupho Offshore Farm, Ongjin Offshore Farm, Kumipho Fishery Station, Songdowon Fishery Station and the Wonsan Seafood Production and Processing Station increased the production of seaweeds and shellfishes by introducing advanced cultivation methods.
Workers and technicians of the Kim Chaek Fishery Station, the Kanhae Office for Stocking the Sea with Fishes and the Jongju Fishery Station stocked the sea with tens of millions of fry of salmons and flatfishes. -0-
