Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) -- Following are major news items and articles in leading newspapers of the DPRK on Thursday:

- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un met with the leading commanding officers of the overseas operation unit of the Korean People's Army who returned home to participate in the ceremony of awarding the state commendations of the DPRK. (photos accompanied)

- Kim Jong Un received a letter from the members of the expeditionary group of the General Association of Koreans in China for a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu.

- The Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House brought out Volume 66 of "Complete Collection of Kim Jong Il's Works".

- New houses were built at the Pongjuk and Sunhak farms in Kosong County, Kangwon Province.

- The summer aesthetic symposium in the field of urban management-2025 took place.

- The Chinese embassy here gave a reception to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

- KCNA commentary says that the entry of an escort ship belonging to the carrier task force Prince of Wales of the British Navy into the Pusan operation base in the ROK is the war "outing" pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula and in the region to the worst phase.
