Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- Jagang Province of the DPRK is making successes in the river improvement projects for preventing the damage by rainy season.
Officials and working people in the province dredged millions of cubic meters of riverbeds, reinforced embankment and built retaining walls of nearly 500 000 square meters in the 30-odd kilometers-long sections of the rivers in Manpho City and Junggang counties.
Songwon and Jasong counties with many rivers and streams finished dredging riverbeds in a short span of time, thus increasing the capacity for water passage.
Kanggye City and Tongsin County pushed ahead with the embankment projects to build retaining walls and finish land leveling in a little more than two months.
Sijung, Usi and Jonchon counties have propelled the anti-land-sliding projects as required by technical regulations in keeping with their regional features.
Wiwon, Kophung and Ryongnim and other counties have improved rivers and streams while ensuring the quality of construction. -0-
