Promising Tourist Industry of DPRK

Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- Today (September 27) is World Tourism Day.

In the DPRK, mountain and coastal tourism is a promising tourist industry.

The mountain area accounts for nearly 80 percent of the territory and its east and west sides are bordered by sea, so mountain and coastal tourist resources are abundant.

In particular, the grand nature in the area of Mt Paektu is a proud tourist resource.

There are Mts Kumgang, Myohyang, Chilbo, Kuwol and many other famous mountains and scenic spots including Majon and Yombunjin.

The DPRK government pays deep attention to developing the tourist industry to make our people enjoy a more civilized life to their heart's content, and boost many-sided exchange and cooperation with other countries.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un indicated the orientation for developing the country's tourism at the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and other major Party meetings and during his field guidance.

He saw to it that tourist resorts and tourist service facilities were built in all scenic spots of the country, and guided thousands of layouts while visiting major tourist areas under construction.

The Munsu Water Park, the Masikryong Ski Resort, the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, the national treasure-level Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area and other wonderful tourist service facilities were built in different parts of the country, and the construction of the Paektusan Tourist Cultural Area is progressing apace under the care of the state.

The DPRK joined the World Tourism Organization in September 1987. -0-
