Efforts Concentrated on Preventing Thunderbolt Damage

Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- The electric power industrial sector is protecting the power supply system from disastrous weather phenomena, true to the resolutions of the 6th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Officials of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry set the model object for raising the capability to prevent thunderbolt damage of transmission substation facilities before mapping out plans and pushing forward their implementation.

Various scientific and technological issues have been settled thanks to the painstaking pursuit and efforts of the members of the February 17 Shock Brigade of Scientists and Technicians.

Officials and employees of the power transmission and distribution station in Nampho city and other substations completed the project for establishing the system for preventing thunderbolt damage in a short span of time.

The power transmission and distribution stations in Pyongyang Municipality and South Phyongan Province provided a technical guarantee for minimizing thunderbolt damage.

A recent demonstration lecture for the officials of power transmission and distribution stations in all provinces disseminated advanced sci-tech data on the system for preventing thunderbolt damage.

The electric power industrial sector is generalizing the system for preventing thunderbolt damage in all provinces on the basis of such achievements. -0-
