Mass Movements Launched among Women's Union Organizations in South Hwanghae Province

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Officials and members of the women's union in South Hwanghae Province of the DPRK are actively conducting mass movements conducive to the development of the regional economy and the improvement of the people's standard of living.

Members of the women's union in Jangyon County went to farms to transplant rice seedlings in hundreds of hectares of paddy fields, readjust paddy ridges extending tens of thousands of metres and harvest wheat and barley in nearly 100 hectares of fields.

Women in Haeju City, Thaethan County and other regions in the province contributed to attaining this year's goals of grain production at over 200 farms.

Officials of the women's union in Unryul and Sinwon counties are setting practical examples while rousing the masses to the movement for winning the title of Socialist Patriotic Forest.

The women's union committee in Paechon County has increased the production of meat and fur considerably more than last year and Chongdan County is taking measures to increase the number of rabbits.

Officials and members of the women's union in Jaeryong and Ongjin counties set goals to mass-produce castor beans and laid a foundation for producing high yields by cultivating castor-oil plant in a scientific way.

Meanwhile, city and county women's union organizations are pushing ahead with the production of cocoons while giving precedence to the creation of mulberry fields and directing efforts to securing high-yielding silkworm species and materials. -0-
