Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- A national symposium on epidemic prevention and public health was held at the Grand People's Study House on October 21 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea.

Present there were officials, teachers and researchers in the fields of epidemic prevention and public health including the Central Disease Prevention and Control Center, the Academy of Medical Science, Pyongyang University of Medicine, the Kim Man Yu Hospital and the Okryu Children's Hospital.

Minister of Public Health Jong Mu Rim, chairman of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea, made an address at the symposium.

He referred to the fact that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un clearly indicated the orientation and ways for bringing about a revolution in public health in the new era to make the country's public health the most advanced, modern and world's public health.

The symposium heard papers of practical significance in conducting epidemic prevention and preventive and curative medical care in a more scientific way and there took place question-and-answer session.

It discussed the issues of improving the epidemic prevention and putting the medical service on a scientific and modern basis, including the prevention of influenza and whooping cough and the method of treating congenital heart disease.

A new vaccine manufacturing method of the Korean style and other proposals attracted the attention of the participants as they can make substantial contributions to protecting the people's lives and promoting their health.

Certificates were awarded to the participants who presented excellent papers at the symposium. -0-
