Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- Trustworthy sportspersons of the DPRK won more than 270 medals, including 150 gold medals, in this year's international games.
The women footballers, who participated in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup held in Morocco, won seven matches, from group league ones to the final one, and scored 25 goals. As a result, they won the World Cup this year, too.
In the 23rd Taekwon-Do World Championships, DPRK players bagged 74 medals, including 46 gold medals, and came first in the country standings.
In the 2025 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships, DPRK players won 23 medals, including 17 gold medals, and set 10 new world records.
In the wrestling event, three world champions were produced and DPRK wrestlers bagged more than 30 medals, including over 10 gold medals this year. And Han Il Ryong, a marathon runner of the Amnokgang Sports Team, won the 20th Asian Marathon Championships.
Pang Chol Mi took the first place in the 52kg category event of the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships 2025, and thus became a twice world champion.
DPRK sportspersons proved successful in the 31st Pyongyang International Marathon, the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, the 2025 FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup, the 9th Asian Winter Games, the 14th Asian Acrobatic Gymnastic Championships, the Second Asian Karate Championships and Cup, and other international games.
In the DPRK this year, there took place many sporting events, during which dozens of new national records were created in such events as field and track, weightlifting and shooting, and the 2024-2025 DPRK men's and women's premier football leagues were held amid the interest of many football experts and fans.
Mass sports games, mass sports activities and the movement for winning the titles of model sports county and model sports unit increased the sports zeal of all the people. -0-
