Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to U Myong Ik, a man of wartime merits living in the Block No. 7, Quarter No. 15 at the third stage in the Hwasong area of Pyongyang, on his 100th birthday.

The old man received the birthday spread amid the congratulations of officials of the Hwasong District Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and neighbours. He was greatly grateful and excited by the benevolence of the Party which provided him with a modern house free of charge and showed the great love to be handed down through generations.

True to the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, who put him forward as the master of the country after its liberation, he devoted himself to building a new country and made patriotic efforts at his revolutionary posts during and after the past Fatherland Liberation War.

The WPK put forward him as a member of the victorious wartime generation as he did good things for society and the collective and brought up his children wonderfully. -0-
