Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- During the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950 - July 1953), President
In August 1950, the enemies, who were pressed into a small area by the dynamic advance of the People’s Army, made desperate efforts to check the latter's attack on the line of the Raktong River.
After seeing through the enemies' attempt, he left for the front, paying deep attention to the defence on the southwest coast, which no one has yet paid attention.
On the evening of August 10, enemies' planes appeared in the sky when the President and his party arrived on the Chungju line.
The President ordered to stop vehicles and take shelter in forest. The enemy planes dropped bombs at the place where the cars stopped and splinters of bombs embedded in the place near the President. When the enemy planes disappeared, the accompanying officials ardently asked him not to inspect such dangerous front again.
He said that he knew well their minds but if he encourages commanding officers and combatants at the front even though it is dangerous, the day of victory in the war would be brought earlier.
He inspected the headquarters at the front to inform it of the Supreme Command's final operation plan and went to the headquarters of the 26th Coastal Defence Brigade to give instructions on strengthening the southwest coastal defence to cope with the coming situation on the front.
During his inspection to the front, he crossed a dangerous railway bridge with a car and climbed Mt Jihye, covering the 8-odd kilometer-long road showered with napalm bombs and littered with time bombs dropped by the enemies.
The inspections to the front by the President were great historic events that instilled the strength and courage into the KPA soldiers and brought earlier the victory in the war. -0-
