Combat Equipment Shining with Hero Medal

Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- The pursuit aircrafts No. 12, No. 009 and No. 1032 and the torpedo boat No. 21 bearing the medal of the Hero of the Republic are exhibited at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum

They tell about the heroic feats of the DPRK pilots and sailors who bravely fought according to President Kim Il Sung's original tactics.

Kim Ki Ok, a pilot of the pursuit aircraft No. 12, shot down 11 enemy planes including bomber B-29 which the U.S. imperialists boasted of as the "fortress in the sky" and damaged 4 planes in several air battles.

The pilot of the pursuit aircraft No. 009 shot down aircrafts of the U.S. Air Force in the sky over the Chongchon River and Lake Jangjin.

The pilot of the pursuit aircraft No. 1032 shot down 7 enemy planes and damaged three in the sky over the east coast including Hamhung and Ryonpho in a month.

The torpedo boat No 21 performed a feat in sinking the U.S. imperialist aggressors' heavy cruiser Baltimore, which had been called a "moving island", off the coast of Jumunjin in early July 1950.

In November 2011, Chairman Kim Jong Il took a measure to award the title of Hero to the weapons and combat equipment of merits.

The title of Hero of the Republic was respectively awarded to the pursuit aircrafts No. 12 and No. 009 in January 2012 and to the pursuit aircraft No. 1032 and the torpedo boat No. 21 in July. -0-
