Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Oct. 22 to mark the 80th founding anniversary of the Radio-Television Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK.

Kim Ki Ryong, chairman of the committee, made a report.

He referred to the fact that President Kim Il Sung, who had a clear insight into the position and role of broadcasting in the revolution and construction, made great efforts for the establishment of broadcasting station though he was so busy with the preparations for the founding of the party after the national liberation and that established the central broadcasting station on October 14, 1945.

He said that Chairman Kim Jong Il led the broadcasting to firmly preserve the revolutionary character as the broadcasting of the leader and the Party and fulfill its mission and duty in the vanguard of the ideological front of the Workers' Party of Korea.

He stressed that the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un led the Radio-Television Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK to fulfill its revolutionary duty in accomplishing the cause of modeling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

He said that under the leadership of the great Party Central Committee, the Radio-Television Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK has developed into a core media organ powerfully conveying the voices of the WPK and the DPRK government all over the world, a powerful information means for reporting important political events and special events of the country in a mobile and comprehensive way and a pivotal organ of controlling and commanding the broadcasting organs of the country in a uniform way.

The reporter called upon all broadcasting officials to fulfill their mission and duty as the faithful spokespersons, staunch defenders and powerful information workers of the Party's policies, regarding the undying leadership exploits of the peerlessly great men as their lifeline.

Present at the meeting were officials and employees of the Radio-Television Broadcasting Committee of the DPRK, former meritorious broadcasting officials and officials of relevant units. -0-
