Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- Efforts have been made to prepare potato farming in rural areas of Ryanggang Province of the DPRK.

The production of self-sufficing manure increased 1.3 times as against the same period of last year, over 1 000 hectares of potato fields were carpeted with humus soil and progress made in securing farming materials.

Samjiyon City carried out the work for carpeting several hundred hectares of potato fields with humus soil in a short span of time to provide a guarantee for producing more potatoes.

Farms in Paekam County have worked hard to attain the target of land improvement, and thus fulfilled their daily quotas at 120 percent.

Working people in Taehongdan and Kapsan counties have secured manure larger than planned through a mass movement and made the maximum use of transport means to lay a large amount of manure on the fields.

Similar successes are witnessed at farms in Samsu, Phungso, Pochon and Kim Jong Suk counties.

The Hyesan Trailing Farm Machine Factory and the Samsu County Farm Machine Station are putting spurs to overhaul and servicing farm machines. -0-
