Pyongyang, July 14 (KCNA) -- The metal industry of the DPRK concentrates its efforts on consolidating the foundation for increased iron and steel production.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex is pushing ahead with the project for remodeling its steel workshop No. 1 and fire-resisting material shop.

The Chollima Steel Complex finished the technical preparations for building a 60-ton UHP electric arc furnace and is now stepping up the construction work.

While pushing ahead with the construction of a vertical furnace for oxidizing roasting pellet at the final stage, the Posan Iron Works completed the assembly of custom-built equipment necessary for perfect production lines. It is conducting the trial operation of parts and systems.

The same is true of the Chongjin Steel Plant. -0-
