South Hwanghae Province Strives for Perfecting Irrigation System

Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- South Hwanghae Province in the DPRK is stepping up the work to perfect the irrigation system.

The province has organized its commanding forces and designed and pushed ahead with the projects for the dry-field irrigation, waterway cleaning and irrigation structures according to a step-by-step plan. And measures are taken to increase the pumping and drainage capacity in the regions damaged by drought and flood in the past.

Cities and counties are making sure that the plans are mapped out and stepped up to maintain and reinforce pumping equipment, secure spare parts and supply electricity to the pumping stations.

They are also speeding up the production of water pumps with large capacity, while directing efforts to strengthening the material and technical foundations of the irrigation equipment and accessory production units.

Officials and working people of the province are making progress in repairing and maintaining water pumps, motors and transformers, building and repairing irrigation structures, cleaning waterways and irrigating dry fields.

The irrigation equipment production units produce many more plastic pipes of various sizes and send them to the farms.

The city and county irrigation management stations are pushing ahead with the project of repairing dams, while finding out and correcting defects of reservoir floodgates.

The province puts spurs to carrying out the step-by-step goals for further perfecting the irrigation system. -0-
