Sci-tech Measures Taken for Increasing Yield of Earlier Crops in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- Agricultural workers in Kaesong Municipality of the DPRK are taking scientific and technological measures to increase the yield of the earlier crops.

The municipality has increased the cultivation area of wheat and barley by 1.2 times as compared with last year and directed efforts to improving the soil fertility and securing high-yielding seeds.

It has organized shows and passing-on technique meetings to generalize the experience of the units that achieved high yields in the earlier crops farming last year and conducted operation and command to achieve good results from the early crops farming.

Farms are observing the difference of temperature in day and night and giving leaf fertilizing at the appropriate time as required by the technical regulations.

Plant nutrients and growth regulators are applied to the fields to make wheat and barley grow healthily.

Farms are raising the level of scientific cultivation by rationally allocating manpower and taking measures to prevent damage by harmful insects and drought. -0-
