Water is a source of life and a precious and essential resource indispensable to human life.
A brisk project is going on in the DPRK to manage and use water resources in a rational way.
This year the DPRK Law on Water Resources was amended and supplemented to provide a strong legal guarantee for the central land and environment protection guidance organ, the central underground resources development guidance organ and other relevant institutions to regularly grasp and control the survey, prospecting, development, protection and use of water resources.
Importance is given to the water conservation in the country. The water resources sector is promoting the work to manage reservoirs well, establish a proper irrigation system and raise the utilization rate of water resources.
The water environment and water ecological sectors are taking measures to thoroughly prevent water pollution and preserve and protect aquatic ecosystem.
The water control sector has directed efforts to establishing a unified machinery system and a proper water control system with the watershed as a unit.
Achievements have been made in the research for making effective use of water resources.
An IT product was developed to regulate water level at reservoirs and an advanced technology for securing and making effective use of water resources in rural areas was introduced into practice. -0-
