Many Documentary Films Produced and Disseminated During Fatherland Liberation War

Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- Seen in the proud history of war victory of the DPRK are the historical scenes of wartime documentary films that inspired all the service personnel of the People's Army and people to winning victory in the war, instilling the will to annihilate the enemy into them.

Even though President Kim Il Sung was so busy during the hard-fought war, he paid attention to the production of documentary films and led the war cameramen to fulfill the mission and duty assigned by the times.

The then State Film Studio turned the work system into a wartime system, formed 12 war cameramen's groups and they conducted activities on the eastern, western and central fronts.

In September 1950, "War of Justice", the first full-length documentary film on the theme of wartime, was produced.

The documentary film, which deals with the proud military achievements and struggle of the frontline units that switched over to the immediate counteroffensive and thus occupied almost all the enemy-controlled areas at once, mercilessly smashing the enemy's strongholds, made the front and rear seethe with joy from its first screening.

Afterwards, producers and cameramen produced several documentary films and a scientific film "Germ Warfare of U.S. Imperialists" for the first time in the DPRK.

The documentary films dealing with the heroic soldiers' activities of delivering a heavy blow to the enemy through active positional defence, aircraft-hunting team movement, tank-hunting team movement and sniper team movement, played the role of a primer in rapidly disseminating the valuable combat experience to the whole army.

The documentaries dealing with the struggle of the peasants and railway workers for increased food production and rail transport in wartime also proved effective.

The documentary films indicating that the spring spirit of victory is vibrant on the land of the country have redoubled the confidence in sure victory and optimism of the soldiers of the People's Army and people.

The production of newsreels informing the situation of the front in a timely and mobile manner was conducted on a full scale, and nearly 100 DPRK newsletters were produced during the period of the war.

On the day of war victory, war cameramen had the greatest honor of documenting the ennobling image of the President standing on the platform of victory.

The documentary films are a witness to history that reminds the people how precious and expensive the victory of the great years is, and a precious national treasure of the DPRK that conveys the spirit of the war heroes generation after generation. -0-
