Afforestation and Forest Conservation Brisk in North Hwanghae Province

Pyongyang, March 27 (KCNA) -- Afforestation and forest conservation are brisk in North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK.

The province has significantly organized showing and intensified technical guidance to make sure that cities and counties push ahead with afforestation in a far-sighted way while considering symbiosis among trees, weather and climate conditions and soil conditions.

Employees of the forest management stations in cities and counties set a proper standard for evaluating the tested saplings and have manured and tended them in a scientific and technological way according to their growth stage to produce saplings of good species.

The counties are properly fixing the selection of species and the number of trees per hectare and planting pine-nut trees, chestnut trees, Evodia daniellii and other trees on the principle of planting the right tree on the right soil.

They have worked out a plan for tree planting to suit the climatic and soil conditions of their residential areas and directed efforts to securing high-yielding seeds and introducing a scientific tree-planting method to increase the areas of oil-bearing tree forests, forests of raw materials for paper and wild fruit tree forests.

They have taken foresighted measures to prevent damage by insects and forest fires by enhancing the role of forest rangers, harmful insect observers, and forest fire rangers. -0-
