Pyongyang, September 26 (KCNA) -- A great change in the grain production structure of the DPRK is taking place at a time when modern dwellings are being built in all the rural areas and a new history of irrigation written amid the efforts to implementing the programme for the rural revolution in a new era.

At the Fifth Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK in September 2021, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified the plan to boldly change the distribution of crops and switch over to rice, wheat and barley farming, stressing the need to provide the people with rice and flour and thus create the conditions for improving their diet in a civilized way.

At the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea held a few months later, he clarified again the grand plan and taught the ways to push ahead with the rice and wheat farming.

At the subsequent plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee, he underscored the need to press ahead with wheat farming and increase the per-hectare yield. He took measures to qualitatively finish sowing winter wheat and barley seeds in the right time by concentrating efforts and means and took effective steps to promote the growth of wheat and barley.

Our Party's policy on changing crop distribution is displaying tremendous vitality.

By August last year, the national wheat production plan was overfulfilled by more than 40 percent and over 140 farms produced more than 6 tons of wheat per hectare. Over the last four years, the nationwide area of wheat cultivation has increased by more than three times and the output by over four times.

The Haeju and Nampho wheat processing factories and other large-capacity wheat processing factories, which have been modernized under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, have produced a lot of wheat flour and the wheat processing equipment at farms is operating at full capacity to grind wheat into flour and make wheat noodles.

In reality in which a new life and culture are brought into full bloom along with a bumper wheat crop, our people cherish the truth that the Party's policy on wheat farming is science and victory. -0-
