DPRK Newspapers Observe Tree-planting Day

Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- On March 14, 1952, President Kim Il Sung stressed the need to create lots of forests through a mass movement, showing concern about the fact that many forests in the country were burned by the barbarous bombing of the U.S. imperialists.

DPRK leading newspapers on Friday dedicate editorials to the tree-planting day.

The President advanced scientific guidelines on afforestation in each period and at each stage of the developing revolution and wisely led the struggle for implementing them, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on:

Whenever seeing thick forests and vast realigned land, Chairman Kim Jong Il would say with his affection that they are mountains and fields in verdure. And whenever he saw mountains with few trees on the way of his field guidance, he felt more anxious than anyone else. So he put his heart and soul into the work for covering the whole country with trees and flowers.

Now, tree planting is dynamically conducted as an important undertaking for the national prosperity and development and the people's happiness under the wise guidance of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

The General Secretary said that tree planting is not merely the work to plant trees but the work to implant our Party's policy, warm patriotism and invariable pure conscience.

Thanks to the patriotic zeal and devoted efforts of all the people in the country who turned out as one, bearing in mind the noble patriotic intention of the peerlessly great man, progress has been made in afforestation.

The importance and significance of the tree-planting campaign are being further emphasized in the ongoing gigantic struggle for the comprehensive development of socialism.

When everyone displays patriotism and conscience in tree planting, mindful of its importance and significance, precious wealth will be provided, a more promising prospect for the afforestation and greening of the whole country will be opened, and posterity will lead a better life in the distant future, enjoying the benefits of forests cultivated by our generation.

Minju Joson calls upon all officials and working people to turn out in the spring tree-planting campaign and increase the forest wealth of the country with patriotic devotion. -0-
