Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Among the folk holidays enjoyed by the Korean people is the first full moon day (January 15th of the lunar calendar).
From olden times, the Korean people have held various ceremonial events reflecting their desire for the new year's fortune and rich harvest.

There was a custom of composting fields early in the morning that day.
On the evening of the day, people irrespective of age or sex enjoyed the full moon on high mountains or hills in their villages, having pleasant talks.
Children played folk games like a game of pursuit, going to the place of enjoying the moon, and sang songs, enjoying the moon.
Special dishes of the day are boiled rice admixed with four other staple cereals and dishes made of nine kinds of dried edible herbs.
On the morning of the day, they drank ear-quickening wine.
