Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Kangwon Province of the DPRK is pushing ahead with the work to improve the ecological environment.

Atmosphere monitoring posts have been built in the Pongchun-dong area of Wonsan City and the Wonsan Kalma coastal tourist area.

More measuring instruments related to the protection of the atmosphere have been installed in Wonsan and Munchon cities and Chonnae County to increase the capability of monitoring the environment.

The province saw to it that the provincial environmental protection institute has examined and analyzed the water quality of the sea in a regular way. It also took steps to investigate the status of the ecological environment in factories and enterprises in the province, and to prevent any factors of environmental pollution. The province ensures that the relevant sectors, including the ones of road improvement, urban management, forestry, agriculture and river improvement, put efforts into improving the ecological environment by planting more turfs in the areas under their charge.

The province is also making an effort to resolve the sci-tech problem arising in improving the urban ecological environment in cooperation with the provincial commission of science and technology. -0-
