Pyongyang, July 19 (KCNA) -- Schoolchildren across the DPRK have built tree nurseries with their own efforts and raised saplings to plant and cultivate them in mountains and fields of their regions.

Amid the brisk afforestation by the children's union organizations at schools, this year alone, more than 200 senior middle schools won the title of Socialist Patriotic Forest and over 12 million saplings of 20-odd good species were planted in more than 7 400 hectares of forests of the children's union and surrounding mountains.

Children's union members of Jongbong Senior Middle School in Singye County planted more than 50 000 trees of good species in the Children's Union Forest and are monitoring forest fire and harmful insects in a regular way.

Schoolchildren in Mundok County, including Mundok Senior Middle School and Oryong Senior Middle School, have built tree nurseries with their own efforts and raised saplings by applying cultivation methods suited to biological characteristics and seasonal conditions.

Children's union members of Ponghak Senior Middle School in Phyongsong City, Munam Senior Middle School in Hoechang County and Yonphung Senior Middle School in Anju City have manured and tended the planted trees after securing hundreds of fire extinguishing equipment.

The children's union members of Hero Posan Senior Middle School in Cholsan County, who strive to protect forests from natural disaster, forest fire and harmful insects, are the model to be followed by all schoolchildren.

Thanks to the precious patriotic minds of the rising generation, the mountains and rivers of the country are changing with each passing day. -0-
