Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- The national anthem of the DPRK is a famous song and national treasure as it reflects well the desire of its people to build on this land a genuine people's country and a dignified and independent great power.

Whenever we sing our national anthem, it seems that we see beautiful landscape of our country and we feel very proud of being citizens of the great Republic.

The national anthem was written and completed at the proposition and under the meticulous guidance of President Kim Il Sung.

One day in September Juche 35 (1946), he met some writers and told them that the people wanted to sing of their great joy and emotion of enjoying freedom and happiness in the liberated country.

Adding that the Korean people are the resourceful people with a 5 000-year-long history and splendid culture, he called for reflecting in the song their national pride and honor of living in a beautiful country and having the tradition of sagacious struggle.

The great idea and feelings of the peerlessly great man just constituted the words and music of the national anthem, and it was played on September 9, 1948 when the DPRK was founded. It has touched all the people with its great influence for decades.

The song is now encouraging the DPRK people in their patriotic struggle to step up the building of a powerful socialist country under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un. -0-
