Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Following are major news items and articles in leading newspapers of the DPRK on Monday:

- Flower baskets were sent to the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill by organizations of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

- The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to a woman centenarian living in Hoesang District, Hamhung City, South Hamgyong Province.

- A national meeting was held here to mark the 70th founding anniversary of Chongryon.

- The Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK sent a congratulatory message to the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon.

- The work for restoring the destroyer is being actively conducted.

- The Standing Committee of the SPA of the DPRK issued a decree on conferring the title of model law-observance unit on exemplary units in strengthening socialist law-abiding life.

- Officials of ministries and national agencies paid a condolatory visit to the Vietnamese embassy here.

- State academic degrees and titles were awarded to intellectuals.

- Students of Kang Pan Sok Revolutionary School conducted a motivation activity at the construction site of the leisure complex in Kangdong County.

- Successes have been made in various economic sectors.
