The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who always pays deep attention to the promotion of the people's health, initiated the construction of a modern general ophthalmic hospital, gave precious instructions on its location and scale and guided its layout several times.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un took measures for supplying constriction forces and materials and visited the construction site of the Ryugyong General Ophthalmic Hospital in a day of May 2016.

He said that it was his long-cherished plan and desire to build a modern general ophthalmic hospital and present it to the people. He was very pleased that the construction was being carried out at full speed.

He stressed the need to build the hospital well so that it can make the most of its characteristics as a multi-functional and comprehensive medical service center that can render spectacle-making service as well as a special hospital for eye treatment.

Thanks to the warm loving care shown by Kim Jong Un, who provided the equipment and various fixtures necessary for the operation of the hospital and the material and technical means for the glasses shop, the hospital was built in a short span of time.

The hospital makes eye drops and artificial lenses of various kinds to help patients. And it has introduced new medical appliances including a portable amblyopia treatment apparatus and advanced testing technology to make successes in public health practice.

It has written ophthalmic books and reference books including "eye-plastic operation" to contribute to making the hospital the centre of the ophthalmology sector in the country.

The glasses shop of the hospital conducts eyesight and corrective test of people according to scientific diagnosis and prescription and makes spectacles of various shapes and functions. -0-
