Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- Proud successes have been made in different parts of the DPRK thanks to the active role of the scientific farming promotion teams for contributing to the increased grain production by dint of science and technology.
Scientists of agricultural science and education institutions were dispatched to provinces, cities and counties to draw up scientific farming plans suited to the characteristics and conditions of relevant regions and units and take measures to timely solve technical problems arising in each farming process from sowing to harvesting.
The application of the technology of regeneration rice cultivation made it possible to reap crop on rice fields in the areas affected by flooding, and the production plans were over-fulfilled by introducing double-cropping methods and improving cultivation methods.
Primary efforts were directed to increasing soil fertility in the areas of more than 800 meters above the sea level to carry out the plans at over 200 percent by introducing advanced agricultural science and technology products, and scientific farming methods were applied in low-yielding areas.
Meanwhile, the teams solved technical problems arising in sugar beet seed production units and sent sweet potato seedlings with high-sugar content to cities and counties where regional-industry factories were built last year to help solve the sugar materials, contributing to the work for raising the farming of city and county raw materials bases across the country.
They set the researches for settling the sci-tech problems arising in steadily increasing the agricultural production of the country as the main ones.
They solved sci-tech problems arising in producing wheat and barley sowing machines and laid a foundation for locally producing various accessories needed for the production of nutritive seedling transplanters.
They also introduced the information system for managing agricultural sector into agricultural guidance organs and farms across the country and updated the functions of more than 30 subsystems to make it possible to grasp the actual conditions of the agricultural sector and ensure the unified guidance and management of agricultural production. -0-
