Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Workers and trade union members met with heroes and meritorious persons of socialist patriotism at the Central Hall of Workers on September 8 to celebrate the 77th founding anniversary of the DPRK.

Present there were Pak In Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK), officials of the GFTUK and workers and trade union members in Pyongyang.

At the meeting, which began with the singing of the song "Song about the Country" in chorus, Ham Ok Suk, teacher of Jesan Primary School in Hyongjesan District, told with excitement the honor of being awarded the title of labour hero, the highest honor of citizens, on the road of implementing the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of bringing about a radical improvement in education in the new century.

Pak Hyon Chol, a merited builder who is a workteam leader of the Rungna Construction Company of the Pyongyang Construction Commission, said that the Party has glorified the life of an ordinary citizen devoted to the struggle to usher in a great golden age of new construction with the noble honor of being a meritorious person of socialist patriotism.

The participants were deeply moved by the story made by Kim Chang Gon, a company commander of the Pyongyang Youth Passenger Train Crew, who turned his unit into a group full of love and affection and the ranks of patriotic working people with warm comradeship and human love.

The song "We Are a Worker Couple" sung by Pak Yong Jin and Ri Un Hui, a couple of the Songsin Trolley Bus Station, meritorious persons of socialist patriotism, was acclaimed by the participants.

Kim Yong Chol, chief engineer of a casting branch factory of the East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant, said that the ardent patriotic spirit was the driving force that turned impossible into possible and brought about miracles and innovations.

Jo Kil Nyo, a work-team head of the Phyongchon District Road Administration Station, who is deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly and meritorious person of socialist patriotism, extended boundless thanks to the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who trained the working class and trade union members across the country to be possessors of ardent patriotic spirit and pledged to devote herself to accomplishing the Party's cause of building a powerful country. -0-
