Progress Made in Iron and Steel Production

Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex in the DPRK is putting spurs to the iron and steel production.

The smelters of its blast furnace workshop Nos. 1 and 2 have concentrated on raising the operation rate of energy-saving oxygen heat blast furnace while increasing the amount of molten iron produced per charge.

Workers and technicians at the oxygen separator branch factory provide high-purity oxygen, solving technical problems arising in more efficiently operating the equipment.

Workers of the Steel Workshop No. 2, the Hot-rolling Shop and the Gas Producing Shop are playing a big role in fulfilling the plan through various mass movements and introduction of valuable technical innovations.

The Songphyonggwan Transport Station has operated the pipelines for long-distance transportation in a substantial way to supply a large amount of concentrated iron ore. -0-
