Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Jagang Province of the DPRK is directing efforts to the river improvement and technical remodeling of roads.
This year, the province dredged more than 900 000 cubic meters of riverbed, built hundreds of thousands of square meters of retaining wall and finished road pavement and bridge construction between cities and counties.
After working out a plan to spruce up the regional appearance and conducting survey of the state of rivers and roads, the province has stepped up the project to raise the water passing capacity and hasten the technical remodeling of roads.
Huichon City concentrated its forces and means on the construction and reinforcement of embankments in the Chongchon River area, dredged riverbeds and built retaining walls on dangerous sites.
Songwon and Rangnim counties completed the improvement of small and medium rivers and Junggang and Hyangsan counties took measures for preventing flood damage.
Officials and working people in the province finished the pavement of road between Hyangsan and Huichon within 20-odd days and are conducting the asphalt pavement of road between Huichon and Tongsin.
Janggang County raised the ground level and laid broken stones in a section of road extending more than 10 kilometers and built new bridges.
Usi, Hwaphyong and Jasong counties are improving the overall appearance of roads in the area. -0-
