Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- The waterway construction division in the DPRK completed a project for overhauling the structures for waterway from Taechon Power Station No. 5 to Unjon, Jongju and Kwaksan and a project for building waterway structures in Sokhwa, Aedo and Ilhae tidelands.
The projects were part of the efforts for adjusting and restoring the irrigation system, which involved the removal of over 60 000 cubic meters of earth, more than 7 400 cubic meters of concrete tamping and building of retaining walls extending thousands of square meters in order to overhaul or build nearly 100 irrigation structures.
Their completion has increased the water-passing capacity, providing a guarantee for supplying enough irrigation water to the farm fields covering an area of more then 10 000 hectares in several cities and counties of North Phyongan Province and to the tidelands to be reclaimed. -0-
