Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The DPRK is going ahead with the irrigation projects planned for this year.
North Phyongan Province has carried on the work to lay plastic pipelines extending tens of kilometers under the ground in rape fields of the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm, while repairing and enlarging the earthen canal of the Thaechon Power Station No. 5-Unjon, Jongju and Kwaksan Waterway.
The province is building a water pumping station necessary for irrigation of paddy fields.
Hwangju County, Yonsan County and other rural areas in North Hwanghae Province are watering newly-made paddy fields at the final stage, including enlarging waterways, building water pumping stations and installing large-capacity pumping equipment.
South Phyongan Province completed the construction of more than 100 water pumping stations and is carrying on the irrigation projects for paddy and non-paddy fields including the project for waterway structures for draining flooded areas.
Other regions are completing the planned irrigation projects for paddy and non-paddy fields. -0-
