Pyongyang, March 26 (KCNA) -- The men's and women's premier football tournament began at the Kim Il Sung Stadium and the May Day Stadium here on Wednesday as part of the 2026 Spring National Sports Festival.

Divided into three groups, men's and women's ace football teams at home will play league matches. Then, winners and runners-up from each group and two best third-placed teams will play knockout games.

On the first day, the men's Pyongyang Team and Ryomyong Team played a 1:1 draw and the Kigwancha Team beat the Team of the Ministry of Light Industry 2:1.

The April 25 Team beat the Kalmaegi Team 7:0 and the Wolmido Team defeated the Hwaebul Team 1:0 respectively in the women's games. -0-
