Pyongyang, May 6 (KCNA) -- Pak Hyon Uk, director of the Geology Institute under the State Academy of Sciences, is one of the DPRK's best scientists and technicians for 2025.

He contributed to adding luster to Mt Paektu, a world-famous mountain and pride of the Korean people.

For several years, he has made efforts to improve the accuracy of data interpretation through survey of gravity, magnetic force and radioactivity in order to assess the movements and activity of magma.

He scientifically proved the stability of the magmatic activity of volcano in Mt Paektu and contributed to estimating the distribution area and depth of magma.

He comprehensively analyzed in a scientific way the eruption stage and the geological evolution of volcano in Mt Paektu and proved the lithological characteristics and newly proved the scientific, pedagogical and tourist values of dozens of geological relics, thus contributing to making the area of Mt Paektu renowned as a global geopark. -0-
